"Den konstante duft af sukker..."

My master project. I started out looking at the wonderful paintings by Kathrine Ærtebjerg. Became inspired to create a collection of knitwear. I am a textile student on Designskolen Kolding in Denmark. On this blog you can follow my process a long the way.

A board… While working I have several boards. This one from the previous phase, but I like to keep them for a while.

Sentences

“The constant scent of sugar flies with its little sugar sweet wings around in the air where I live”

“I sleep in the cherries open wound. Where it is warm, wet and soft.”

“When we woke up this morning she had long ears and a snout which could smell everything immediately.”

“There are dots around my body. There is nothing else. I am gone.”

After composing my my little story, I narrowed it further down to four sentences. The essence of my story. The basic for my collection. At this point.

As you can see from the headline of this blog, it became the sentence “The constant scent of sugar..” which represents the collection today.

Going backwards, I never really explained this… When I had analyzed and interpreted the nine paintings by Kathrine Ærtebjerg, I composed my own little story. From this story I started to make my collection. The story is in danish…

My samples in a box. Here are some of the samples that did not make all the way.

Knit and fur. I visited Saga Fur in Vedbæk, Denmark the other week. I want to integrate fur details in to my knit. Their workshop and showroom was amazing! Not to forget the people who work there!! I will definitely revisit them.

Sometimes knitting is not enough. I love to crochet!! It gives a more stable and stiff material which complements the knitting very well.
